I have two cats but the pipes join into one just before the muffler.

True duals 99% of the time on a road going car, aren't the best for power or sound even...
X pipes generally produce the most HP, by helping with scavenging and such.. Hot Rod mag has done tests over the years, among other sources and shops
It looks like that is the setup here Looks to be a pretty good setup from OEM IMO, much better than the 92-99 H Body exhaust snake.
