For the last couple weeks I've been trying like heck to get down to the Lowe'* and check out those cordless drivers and impacts - can't seem to get there.

I did make it into my Ace Hardware a couple days ago. They had some of the drivers, but they were all low-volt. I'm not going to be a power user, but I like the idea of the 19-20v models - so I'll once again set my sights on Lowe'*.

Last weekend I found out at the last minute about a music store swap meet, so after I had 2 new tires put on, I had to take a guitar over - see what they'd offer.

Lowe'*.. Drivers.. next Saturday.

Whew! I finally made it down to the store for my new drill kit. It wasn't Lowes, though - they didn't have any on sale.. and it wasn't the combo drill/impact with 2 batteries - couldn't find one under $180

I took a slightly different turn here. I got me a Milwaukee 3/8 18V Single Battery with Charger and Hard Case. Instead of an impact, I went for a decent set of driver and drill bits to go with the drill. Then I got a nice pair of bolt cutters - 24" cuts 3/8 hardened pretty good. Also picked up a small Stanley tape measure (not pictured).

The drill kit was $99 on sale - Home Depot. The bit and driver set was $35 from Harbor Tool. The bolt cutters were $22 - Home Depot. Stanley Tape was about $8 - Home Depot.
