Default Cordless Power Drills (not impact)

What'* a dependable unit for interior auto trim and general light handyman house jobs? I'm not going to build or remodel a house, so something that'll run 30 minutes off and on will do the trick.

I prefer to stay away from the lower priced models - assuming I'll get what I pay for. $50-$125 with a spare power pack is where I'm comfortable.

The reviews I've read list many well-known brands - Milwaukee seems to be highly rated, but I'd rather get a drill with bits, spare battery, and case for the same dollars. I don't need top of the line - just dependability.

I know you said non-impact, but for the price, I think you might be interested. Lowe'* has the Porter Cable Impact that I use on Heavy duty trucks every day. This thing takes a beating...

Of course, the kit I bought several months ago isn't available, but this one cost almost as much...

Good stuff. Thanks, chevy82 & Mike.

These are right in my price range. I like that they're two separate drivers and include two batteries. The Porter Cable impact is rated at 1450 in-lbs (120 ft-lbs..?) - that should hold up well enough to change a wheel & tire, eh? That'* nearly twice the torque of the other two - this may be a deciding factor here.

Thanks again to both of you!

Thanks, Mike. Still, it'* an attractive package.

Just for the heck of it.. are there any cordless impacts that can do the lug nuts? I mean besides Mac or Snap-On - I don't have that kind of money.

If that'* what you want them to do, then your going to spend money. And IMO, I would stay away from the Harbor Freight tools. Not exactly built for the shade tree.

Thanks. That'* not really what I'm after. I'm sticking with the light-duty handyman stuff. The Porter Cable you mentioned will do just fine. I'll swing by Lowe'* next weekend to check them out.

For a 1/2 impact a guy I work next too has a Dewalt brand impact. Does a pretty good job. My brother has the snap-on brand. From what I have seen the Dewalt brand is just as good and at least half the price.

We have a guy at work that has the electric 1/2" SnapOn impact. It will remove truck lug nuts, but that gun is so noisy it aint funny. We yell at him for using it because of the noise it makes.
