l36 to l67 short block
Ok sad day. I slammed my 96 Buick regal into a median. I found a 2002 Pontiac GTP SC for sale with a bad engine. Can I swap the short blocks and be ok? I know the pistons where different (compression) will there be valve clearance issues? Will the internals of the SB handle the increased compression? Any feed back would be great. Please enlighten me lol.
Thank you
Thank you
I just had the L36 rebuilt about 2 years ago. Its got about 45000 miles on it. I figured I would have the heads off the GTP gone through before swapping. If the lower end wont hold up then its not worth the time and effort of swapping it over. I don't want to get it all together and spin a bearing or through a rod.
L36 has higher compression than the L67. L36 externals will not mount on L67 heads.
Your PCM may not be able to handle the difference in air-fuel ratio because of the difference in cylinder volume. The L36 has flat top pistons while the L67 does not.
I'm sure there are other caveats.
