Hello,
I had three visits to the shop this year. First visit was Freon leaking from the condenser, i could actually see the dye in the front. Second visit and another A/C test revealed the low-end Schroeder valve needed replaced. That was about 14 days ago. This morning I took the Acadia in again because of the Flashing A/C light which does not stay on and no cold air. It was found that the auxiliary lines had rubbed together and caused a leak. Since the shop did not have a required special GM A/C line splice (or crimping) tool they seemed reluctant to fix, that and the fact that none of the mechanics that work there had ever done this type assembly replacement. So today, no charge and a recommendation to take it to a GM or Chevy Dealer that will have this tool. My question is can't the line be fixed with a splice kit or soldered? They just said it'* aluminum and high pressure so no. I get that... and I understand they might have a policy where they replace parts and not "mend" or fix parts.
Anyway, anyone else had to replace this kit assembly? I've had no luck finding a video. I change my own oil, brake pads, and other wearable parts. I've replace wheel bearing and struts, not scared to be a weekend mechanic. I'm wondering how hard to replace the assembly and then I just have to take it in for a A/C test and re-charge.
