Could be maybe $350-400 at a GM dealer.

If you are talking about a front wheel/hub bearing, they are onlly available as an assembly that includes a wheel speed sensor....about $140 for the part from autozone.

Default Wheel Bearing

Vizion - If you have any mechanical ability, you can do this job yourself and save a ton. I don't want to steer you into trouble, but I just did mine a week ago and it was a piece of cake. I did both of my fronts, took my time and stopped for a cup of coffee, and finished in 1 hr 15 min. This job is very straightforward and doesn't require any trickery, magic or special tools. I can fiil you in if you're interested, but there are many informative posts on the subject here on this board.

If you're interested in doing this yourself, check out GMPartsdirect.com. Search for your year and "Hub assembly". I think for the '96 they are around $160+*&H. ...AND genuine GM Parts!

Markwb is correct about the cost at dealer. May be more depending on your part of the country.

What about the 34mm Hub socket and the T55 torx bit? I had to go out and buy those.
I do agree that it'* pretty simple to replace though.

But if you're mechanicly inclined, you could do it for just about half of what it would cost at a GM dealer.

$15.00 from the junk yard! I replaced both of my front ones on my SLE. They were both from the junk yard and cost $15 each. It usually takes about 1/2 hour a side to replace. Not that difficult with the proper tools.
