Default Catalytic converter right side.

Hello everyone looking for recommendations. I found out today that I have to replace the cat on the right side of my 2010 3.0 lacrosse. I'm a do it myselfer especially when I get a $1,500 quote. What is the best Chilton, Haynes, or even a link that could guide me well? Thanks for any help

Cats on Rockauto appear to be fairly reasonable.

I don't know how that specific car is, but it appears to unbolt as a single assembly, and should be fairly straight forward, barring any accessibility challenges.

I agree with rjolly87 . One concern: all of the cats listed for this car at RockAuto are not California emissions. If you live in CA (or NY and your car has CA emissions), you need a CA-rated cat.

NYC I believe. Upstate doesn't do smog testing. Just check for active codes and readiness monitors.

I see you have the 3.0.......

According to procedure, they want you to lower/remove the front exhaust pipe.....not sure if you have to do that.......

As with any exhaust work, chances are the the bolts/nuts will not want to come off, and you will need a torch to free them......

Sometimes just spraying with PB Blaster can free them........

The ones I saw at GM Parts Direct are close to $500.....doesn't say whether it has Calif emissions....

The states that have adopted the California standards are: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico (2011 model year), New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington, as well as the District of Columbia.

Mike they may not do smog testing, but if a vehicle came with Cal emissions, any replacement parts have to have to have them, so that vehicle is back in original condition, as built....at least that'* the way it is in Ma., even if they don't smog test in some areas....since Cal regulations were adopted by NY, I think he has to have Cal cats....his VIN will also verify this....
