Default 97 Regal window motor

I have to replace my drivers side window motor. Napa has 2 dorman units , 1 has a plastic gear and 1 is metal, is 1 just more durable than the other or are they completely different?

Honestly, I'd probably stay away from the plastic gear one. I mean, plastic does break under stress.

dorman does updates to design deficiencies, so just guessing but i would imagine the plastic was failing so they made a metal one

Ya the plastic one is more like the OE gear. And the plastic one does strip, thats what caused my window to not roll up or down in my Regal.
