Default jvc stereo sound in and out...?

Ok so my girlfriends monte carlo just all of a sudden stopped going boomboom..
Shes got 2 12''subs in there and those r the only things working. Not sure why but only when u turn up the radio like all the way u can make out the bass, otherwise when its on normal volume the sound returns to normal only for a half a second in and out...started happening after she turned it up kinda loud but not immediately...
Whats the deal loose wires?

depends, you didnt say what else is in the system or what monte. some have separate amps under the rear deck that could be causing issues or you may have stock wires to stock wires to stock speakers. we need more info for a valid conclusion.
