Default code reader question

Can anyone tell me what code reader I would need for my '94 Bonneville? And would the same reader work with my '92 Silverado?

I've never used one before, and always assumed that it was a repair shop only tool. I'm glad I found this forum, it will save me many $$$$$

As far as I know, you need an OBD-1 scanner and it covers most GM from 1982-1995 all cars after 1996 use OBD-2 scanner and alot of 2000 and newer use CAN scanner.
hope that helps

That would probably be the Actron 9110 with a special cable for the 94 that Slug makes up.
