I went to look at a 66 Bonne yesterday. 1 original owner. 52k miles. black, black, 389?. original paint. interior mint. chrome mint. engine a little rusty. paint has some chips and a few minor dings. No rust. What would be a good price to pay, or better what is it worth? THanks for any input. I know little about this type of car as far as value. Just had a good lead on it. 2 door hardtop.

We may not have too much expertise here on the value of a '66. I would check several places including Autotrader.com.

A white '65 with a 421c.i. tri-power set-up sold for $27,000 at Barrett-Jackson last January, but the car was immaculate.

I don't believe the Bonneville had an option for anything other than a 421ci engine in 1966. And there were 3 of those available in 338hp, 356hp, and 376hp ratings.

Selecting a 2-door hardtop with the HO engine (376hp 421ci), and air conditioning, the HIGHEST you should pay is $9900 in excellent condition. Low retail is $3450.

That should get you in the ballpark. Assume the other two horsepower ratings drop you about 15% in price each step down.

Thanks for the info. I went to 8500.00. He was firm at 10k. I will wait a while and see what happens. In my opinion it takes a special buyer for a car like this, and I do not think there is a long line waiting to spend the 10k. I could be wrong. I will check the engine code if I go there again.
