Just curious... are there legal limits on horsepower and if so is there a website listing it by state?

I think they took care of it the easy way and posted speed limits.

Never heard of anything like that. Like Bill says, speed limit restrictions, emission restrictions, laws against rapid starts, and safety restrictions on are the only things I am aware of that restrict what you can drive on the street.

It'* the old catch 22 thing. You are obligated to inform your insurance company of any major changes to the vehicle. Most people don't. However, I believe you can lose your coverage or be denied a claim if you have an accident and it is discovered you have modified your vehicle to "make it unsafe".

That'* my understanding, and a way to restrict the amount of power you drive over the road...
