Folks......this weekend, if you haven't done it already, get out and lube your power antennas and door seals. Don't forget the trunk and hood seals, either.

I made shaved ice this morning as my power antenna went down. This is very hard on the internal components.

What do you recommend using, Bill? Never thought of this but it makes a lot of sense.

A Silicone or Teflon light lubricant. Spray it on a rag and wipe it on all the rubber seals for the doors, trunk, and hood.

Spray it in the lock cylinders. Then hold a rag behind your antenna (to mask from overspray) and run some down your antenna (wipe this in with your fingers to fully coat it, run it up and down, do it again, etc).

damn good plan. It is supposed to be 30f by this weekend, right now we are at 50.

I've got a fixed mast antenna. Bolts right up from a '95 Grand Prix sedan. And it'* black, so it'* kinda snazzy and goes with the car. Solves the lube/breakage problem.

They still build up ice, though, and bend like crazy at speed. Not much you can do about it though.

No power antenna in mine either. I like it that way...one less thing to worry about failing on me.

I will lube my rubber, though! Thanks for the reminder... lol

Lightly oil that antenna anyway, then wipe it dry. It'll hold less moisture to freeze.
