Default My ar is at the shop

The only thing is that i have to go blind. The oil pressue is so low at idle i just took it to the place i go to when i need some major work done and they dont have a machine to check the pressure for the oil. They said it might be the oil pump switch and i am crossing my fingers that this is the problem. IF not, then i have to crack the bank open and get an oil pump

its fixed now. the oil pump switch was cracked. Second bonneville i had that did that. This time i was fortunate to save it. The black car needed a heart transplant and it took 2 months to find a donor afterwards, lol!

so, it was just giving false readings then? or was it actually losing pressure?

Very good question, you mean the SENSOR? Because we don't have an oil pump switch. And what does it read now? What are your temps?

yeah, the sensor. the sensor had a crack in it. the oil gage read at 36-40 psi at idle no with the gear in drive and 43psi during normal driving. Before it was at 12-19 psi and 35 psi during driving. If i sat at a light, i would have to put it in nuetral so it would go below 12psi. All whiel the engine was warmed up. The temp is at 205*. I was so happy that it wasnt the oil pump itself :P .

so, was it just false reedings, or pressure loss?

they didnt say. i guess pressure loss by the sensor being cracked.

You would loose oil if it was a pressure loss at the crack in the sensor. At least that'* how I figure it to work?
