Default Top speed only 108?

My 2001 SE won't go over 108? What'* up with that? It feels like it will do a hell of a lot more. I Ihave Yokohama AVS dB'* which are Z rated tires. How do I remove the speed limiter? Thanks.......

It will go above 108, your in 3rd gear and hitting the 3rd gear rev limiter. Ease off let the tranny shift in into od then ease back in your now good to 128mph.
The only way to move the speed limiter is with a custom pcm, also improves your shift points.

Actually, it won't do over 108-109 mph. It'* an SE. Only SSEi'* are governed at 128 mph.
But he is sort of right in a way about letting off the gas and as soon as it shifts get back on it. I used to do that in my 1994 SLE and could get up to around 120 before the governor would kick in and pull me back down to 102-104.

Maybe I should try that in my 93 SSEi. It gets to 115 and then stops. Maybe if I let off the gas and ease into it it will go to 128 like it'* supposed to do.

Well it depends on whether your car came with 225/60/HR16 tires or 225/60/VR16 tires. It'* worth a try though. I know Will'* car had a 128 mph governor (at least it did until he put his JET chip in). I have heard that some only could go 115 mph, but that was because they came with the HR tires and the computer was programmed accordingly.

i know you guys are not doing this on the street. 108 mph is way to fast for street driving let alone the other people on the street that are at risk, ,,,,just kidding, yeah mine shuts off a 108 which is fine with me becasue the buddie i was playing with shut down at 100 and i kept going....man he was mad. he has a chevy Tahoe with a 350 and bet me he would win. i knew because of the speed rating on his tires there was no way i would shut down first. any way it did shut down and the only thing you can do is reprogram the computer with a hypertech power programer or some somthing like it. i have never heard of the shift idea so i have never tried it

The third gear rev lmiter and the overall governor is the same on the se/sle models (10. In the SSEi the third gear rev limiter is still 108 (and it wont shift if your in OD at WOT) but the overall governor is raised to 127-128.

I got my SE to about 118-120. When I first feel the gov that hits about 108-110
I would let off the gas then slowly push it to get more. But it doesn't last long
and your right back at 108-115mph. But for a couple of seconds your up there!
But a 04 GTP ran up and passed my guy in his 02 Max doing about 130mph!
NOT FAIR!!!!!!!! :( :(
