I've seen this on zzp and I have no idea what it does. I'm just curious.

It replaces the stock oil filer cap (plastic) with an attractive chrome one with foam air filter.

Performance wise it does absolutely nothing. It is purely a cosmetis thing.

i had heard that on modern cars the breather actully HURT performance , esp. on fuel injected cars. is this true?

I wouldn't say that. At least I know I haven't had any ill effects from using mine.
