ok i noticed that some of u have this thing called an oil cap breather...what exactly does that do? bonnie94sse has one i think this is a pic from his cardomian:

It does almost nothing. It is mostly for looks. There are a few people who say they help some fumes from within the engine escape but realistically you will see no efect from one being installed. I have one on mine but it is purely for looks only.

My dad said they used to put them on back in the day to get rid of fumes in the engine to clean them out and not corrode.(sp?)

Some have said it can free up HP since it lets the engine breathe. I wish. But it looks good, especially with the logo I put on it.

Muslimsteel, you should've used my new engine pics on page 8. It looks better now.

Yes, I believe it was before PCV. They needed to start putting those in with emissions laws I believe.

These were mainly used on old Carb model engines to help the PCV valve re-circulate unspent fumes. Nowadays, with Fuel Injection & computers, we no longer need breathers as our engines are better designed without them.

it doesnt do much but what the hell it has to be good on the engine to let it breath a little more! mr gasket ones at oreilly'* look great on my bros 5.0 I think.
