Question Check engine light

Is there a way to change the check engine light? There are two on my 2001 Bonneville and the one that is supposed to be on when it shows a code does not light up.
It doesn't light up a start-up either.

How do you know a code is tripping it? Not all codes will trip a light.

If the CEL lights up when you turn the power on, then the bulb is good.
