Question what controls firing sequence on a GM 3.8l v6

I have a 2000 Firebird. Its a bare bones 3.8l 5 speed. Here is my problem:
The middle coil pack wont fire. I replaced both the control module and the coil with new parts. Still no go. What controls the sequence and how do I test to find out if that signal is not being generated??

That explains how to test the entire ICM, so I'm assuming you're firing fine on the other 4 cylinders?

My guess would be a bad crank or cam sensor but if one of the sensors is bad I would think you would have issues with the other cylinders not firing at the proper time.

The ICM runs the motor for the first 10 seconds. After that the PCM takes over control.
