Smile Traction Control Light

Hello, I have a 2002 grand prix. I had a wire to the front bearing replaced as it was exposed to the elements. ABS light stays off now, now the traction control light stays on, and I have to turn it off each time I get into my car.

The bearings are new as of 4 months ago, then the wire was fixed and the ABS stays off, and it does work to turn it on and off.

Traction works to turn it on and off as well.
What would cause this light to stay on each time I start my car, and have to either leave it that way or press the button to turn them on.

My mechanic says don't really need it, so it doesnt matter that it stays off. But the light is constantly on, unless I shut it off to turn it on??

Any suggestions, or fixes to this??
Thank you
Joanne

A code may be still lingering in the system. You could have the dealer do a full scan and clear them. Of course, typical 1 hour shop fee would apply.

Try removing both of your battery cables from the battery and touching them together for a minute. If the light still stays on then a fault still exist somewhere.
