Hi everyone. I had someone try to steal my 1990 Bonneville and I guess they failed. Does anyone know how I can "hotwire" this so I can drive it till I can get it fixed. I dont know what color wires I need to cross. I cant find anything on google. Here are some pics. Thanks!

Sorry that I don't know a lot about hot wiring. But, how badly damaged is the lock cylinder? Is it damaged at all? Will your key go in and turn it?

If it isn't badly damaged, try to fix the wiring that they ripped out and use the key to start it.
If it is badly damaged and the key won't turn, I don't see how you'll be able to turn the wheel or shift out of park for that matter.

Well the cylinder is gone totaly and they managed to break the steering wheel lock and shifter. And the housing is so damaged I dont think I can put a new cylinder in. so guess I will have to figure out hot to hotwire it and rig up some kind of switch.

Oh i see it now... have you tried sticking a flathead screwdriver in there and turning it to see what happens. I've never been that far into a gm lock cylinder but I have been that deep into a honda. At the end of the lock cylinder was a switch that I was able to turn with a flathead.

I suggest a trip to the salvage yard for a new steering column. Hot wiring is not something I'm willing to share.

Yeah dude, you're basically asking us how to steal cars, even though it is for the purpose of getting your car running.

Go to a junkyard and get a new steering column, as danthurs suggested.

Yeah.. I just don't have the money right now to do it. But I get where you are coming from. Don't want someone that is up to no good to stumble upon this lol.. Thanks guys!

Well It is so messed up I am gonna have to replace the whole columm. anyone ever done this? real hard?
