Default New Bonneville help

Hi, I'm new to this right now and have a few questions my bonneville was totaled will parked and I'm now looking for a new car I really like the Bonneville GXP body style but can't afford the price for one so after digging through pages of research I found that the 2005 model Bonneville SLE had the same body style without the V8 and price but the SLE doesn't have the supercharger, so my question is what would need to be changed if I wanted the supercharger on it, assuming the labor is free?

Would it be cheaper to get a junkyard engine from an SLEi and just swap or buy the parts to install them by hand?

Thanks!

It'* a bit more involved than that Cory. I just upgraded last year from N/A to Supercharged. The trans needs to be beefier, PCM either needs swapped or tuned for */C, harness needs to have 1 or 2 wires added.

You would actually be better off just buying a car that'* already supercharged.

Also I believe the 2005 is a Series III engine which I recall being harder to tune/modify for some reason? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The 2005 Bonneville SLE got the Series II 3800.

They are very similar to the GXP, except they got the standard one piece spoiler (GXP got three piece) standard SLE brakes (GXP got bigger brakes and dual pison calipers up front) standard oval exhaust tips (GXP got dual outlet staggered chrome tips) and the regular SLE / SSEi interior (GXP got faux carbon fiber trim pieces and aluminum look shifter handle and door handles) 17" chrome five spoke wheels (GXP got 18" painted five spokes"

That said, anymore with the gas prices, the 2005 SLE really isn't that much cheaper if any cheaper then an 04 / 05 GXP and not to mention are actually quite a bit harder to find.

Sure does. The aluminum is difficult and expensive to work with when replacing the head gaskets. If you have someone else do it youll have to give up and arm, a leg and any children you have.

thanks for the help so finding a junked */C Bonneville with intact engine/ transmission and taking the parts over to the 05 Bonneville wouldn't be worth the time and effort
