I have a 77 Firebird that i just aquired and am wanting to know if the transmision that is in it will bolt up and work ok with a 5.3 Chevy motor? The car is an original 5.0 car. wanting to update and make as a daily driver.

Is it a 4.9 litre Pontiac 301 or a 5.0 Chevrolet 305?

Is there anything wrong with the current engine?
