Default Firewall Hole

I am trying to run some wires from inside the car to the outside. I know where the rubber thing(where the wires go through) is in the firewall but i cant get a hole through it. I tried poking a test light probe through it but it woundnt go very far. Any ideas of how to get a hole though it? Or am I better off drilling a hole some where else?

i ended up poking a paper clip through it, then bending it around the wires and pulling that out and it worked. I would have done what justin recommended but the wire i was putting through was very small and didnt want a big hole for it. Thanks any ways justin!
