I've pulled some from a junkyard that were not corroded and used dielectric grease and that worked fine. The green death is a problem with these low voltage systems.

BTW you MUST get good CLEAN connections before doing any other testing. In my experience with these it'* likely good clean connections will solve your problems.

Gotcha, and yeah they are buried through some places and it ends up being best effort or major disassembly to see the wires . . . which is a last resort in my book. Good that you've looked at them though.

Ok i went back through the ICM tests with the new ICM or ordered from rock auto (the one that seemed to be providing no spark) I had good power and ground but no power from the ICM to the crank sensor. As far as i know that means the new ICM is bad. It did seem to be a little scraped up almost like it was a little used but im not sure. I put the old ICM back in real quick and the car started right up first try. I dont trust this ICM id stable though based on all of the earlier problems but apparently not total crap like the new one. Thoughts? I did clean up thr connector before i tried the new ICM first.

Im thinking about returning this icm to rock auto and just buying a duralast or bcm module from autozone or advanced auto so I can get this done today maybe. I originaly got thos from rock bc i wanted to get the original ac delco and that part was way expensive at autozone. The duralast at autozone and the bcm at adavnced auto both are a little cheaper then the ac delco from rock auto. Any opinions on this course of action?

Between 1/4 and 1/3 of these types of electronic components that are Chinese are bad right out of the box.
The old ICM may not have been bad. Could very well be the green death was the problem with it.

Even the ac delco i bought from rock auto? 1 in 4 are bad? Sheesh! Do u think a duralast would be ok? Ar least that way if its bad out of the box i take it right back and get a new one in 5 minutes. When i put the ild one back in it starts but it still sputters some and it kicked another code probably crank sensor and since those have all been changed im assuming the icm is not dead but on its way out. I could be wrong though. There is a little green corrosion on the pins of the old icm that is hard to clean really. I ran it for a bit with the old one in and it ran ok but still stalled once and the tachometer is bouncing still so it still seems like there is an issue there. This has been a tough issue for me.

Try a new one and see what you get. The problem with the green death is if you have it on the ICM it'* on both the ICM itself and the connector. That stuff has to be taken care of. It may require using a pick tool and MUCH patience to get rid of it.

Default Fixed.

I put a duralast ICM in and cleaned the connextor with baking soda and it has been running perfect for 2 days now.
