2003 Pontiac Bonneville rear emergency brake connection to the caliper
E brake cable from front to back has no adjustment connection. I have replaced the calipers and now need to compress the cable spring to reconnect the cable to the caliper. How is this done? If I disconnect at the intermediate position, I will have the same issue as the cable has too much tension to either compress the spring or reconnect at the intermediate position. Is there a special tool to compress the spring at the caliper? Do you disconnect the cable at the foot brake inside the car? Again reconnection there would also be a tough issue. Help from someone who has done this successfully?
Nope, crawled entire length of car, and no adjustment mechanism anywhere. It has all the joint connections for front section, intermediate section and rear where rear left and rear right split but no adjustment mechanism. I have search Cadillac caliper replacement and they say you have to pry the cable end at the caliper to compress the spring, but that was some guy doing that. I would think there is a tool or another way..
