2002 Grand Am tilt wheel
In the process of fixing the annoying clicking that happens to Grand Ams I accidentally
broke of the lever for the tilt steering. It appears like the steering wheel needs to come off to get at this piece but I am wondering if this individual piece is replaceable or is it integrated into the column somehow? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Yes, that looks to be the one. What kind of special tool is required to remove the air bag? It may not be until next weekend now when I can actually take it apart and look a little further. # 1 is the piece that broke, I snapped it right off, I am still able to tilt the wheel if need be but in the process of fixing one problem I guess I created another.

If it is just part 1 that is broke then no biggie just have to drop the shroud around the colum to replace the part. no air bag removal needed. by the way that lever (part 1) is around $16 at GM

That sounds great, I looked at it a little be when I had it off the first time right after I broke it but didn't really see where to remove it. I will look again, that doesn't sound to bad at all to replace and not really expensive, thanks for your help. I will let you know when I have it conquered.

Well, I got it fixed, less than $20 from GM and about 15 min. I was done. Actually there wasn't a bolt holding it in, it was just a little spring loaded pin that I held back with a screw driver and it popped right out/in. Thanks for your help, good as new now.
