Okay on the O2 sensor I didn't know that it was key on count, thought that it was a distance thing taking sample every so many miles. I'll look in the manual and see how that is registered. EGR is speed related so for that I need to go on the freeway and get over 50mph or downhill and let it coast from above 50. There was one more sensor that hasn't register yet but don't remember which one it is right now.
The scanner was throwing me as it has a mileage readout that it is showing from the different things stored on the pcm and it was staying at 0 miles.

Just for anyone reading this thread the answer on the Actron scanner not showing miles. This only shows the mileage since a dtc code is detected and the miles that have been traveled since the first instance of the code is read into the pcm. I misunderstood this reading and thought that it was the miles driven since clearing the dtc codes but this is not the case.

I've been driving the van for a few days now with no problems. At this point I have no dtc codes and all except for one monitor has set to complete. I am only waiting on the secondary air pump to complete its test so I can take the car and get a smog certificate. Not sure why it did not set when the O2 sensor completed but I will take the van on the freeway tomorrow and I hope it completes the cycle after another drive over 55 mph. The manual says it should take 5 cycles over 55 mph for 5 minutes each and that after each run the ignition must be turned off and started for the next cycle. It doesn't say so in the manual but I am thinking that perhaps the O2 sensor test had to complete first though this is not stated in the manual.

The EGR has already set, it is the air pump that adds air to the exhaust manifold that has not set, not the same as the egr that puts exhaust back into the intake manifold. It is designated as the secondary air pump that I am waiting on.

We can't do that here in California. It isn't like the old days of the belt driven air pumps, this is an electric pump from what I understand. I would think that it would only affect the catalyst function by adding some extra unburned oxygen to the exhaust stream before the cat.

if its like the evap though its over complicated and uses rubber or plastic hoses that are bound to fail in short order and leave you chasing your tail every time you have to have it inspected

Yes, it still hasn't completed the cycle and I just checked with the smog tech and he says every I/M must be completed before he can test. You may be on to something with the hoses though, it there is a leak the pcm wouldn't know that from what I see, I will take a look and check for any cracked or leaking hoses or pipes feeding the air to the exhaust manifold. Good call on that one. These days in any state that has a yearly engine check I would imagine that all the newer engines will have the same exact devices we always have first in California.
