2000 SSEi Hesitation between 2500 and 3000 rpm's
My scanner didn't pick up any codes. I replaced the plug wires about 6 months ago, after around a month later cylinder 6 started miss firing. The new wires are longer than the old wires. I simply moved the wire wire away from the the engine block and the problem went away. I am thinking the the wires I got are no good and when the original miss firing happened one or more of them got damaged. I checked the coils and they are fine. however there is a bid of rust/corrosion on one of the plug wires where it connects to the coil. I am planning on changing the fuel filter and air filter this weekend, but I think I may need new plug wires also. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Bosch Platinum Split'*, the plug'* seem in good condition. this particular issue just started about 2 weeks ago, it only happens when trying to accelerate quickly to pass someone. I also noticed my fuel econ is down big time.

Had that several times on my SSEi. Each time it was a crack in a plug wire. At normal load the wire would carry spark to the plug. At higher loads (accelerating at 2,500 RPM) it would arc to the closest ground, and the engine would feel like it was stuttering.
