Default 1995 SSE Backfire related problems

Backfire was related to failed UIM. Replace UIM. Next problem, dies while driving, replaced fuel pressure regulator (fixed problem). Next problem, small puffs of smoke from exhaust on startup, later steady smoke, sweet oil smell. replaced vacuum moduator on transmission (fixed problem). Theory: backfire that blewup airbox also blew the diaphagms in replaced parts. Car now problem free.

Wish I could take the credit, I think all the answers came from this web site. My post was to return the favor to anyone else that might be battling the same problems. We all know that most threads could have several solutions. What a relief when you heal your sick car with the least amount of effort and expense. Thanks to the members and maintainers of this web page for your assistance.
