Default 07 pontiac torrent Replacing/ reprogramming pcm need help

I have an 07 pontiac torrent. The pcm has messed up. It is constantly grounding #6 injector. I'm wondering if a pcm out of another 07 torrent can be reprogrammed to work in my torrent.

Yep. Grab a PCM, Park the car in front of someone who can reprogram PCMs. Swap PCMs. Have them reprogram it. Go for a spin.

Big question in my mind is: Are you sure the PCM is doing this? Seems odd unless there was some trauma to the car or some odd programming done to the PCM.

Cathedral, you can reprogram a PCM, but you can't change the VIN in it, so you can't put it in another car....

I don't think so Mike......Global Communications......We use to "steal" PCM'* out of other vehicles and try them on other cars with driveability problems to see if that took care of the problem.....not anymore..... same thing happened with radios.....you pull one out and it creates com problems because of the VIN in it will not match the VIN in the car you put it in....

Not sure if the 2002 0411 PCM is different in this case, but when I took the 2002 Express software and overwritten my s10 software, I was able to change the vin in the PCM with HPTuners.

What about a brand new (likely remanufactured) PCM that is intended as a replacement? Those shouldn't have a VIN assigned, right?

I was always under the impression that all PCM'* with programmable VIN'* can be reprogrammed via the Tech 2. How else would they be installed in the first place?

I believe when Global communications came along, this was not possible....when you get a reman PCM, it has no VIN in it, and can be programmed...but you can't over write a PCM with a VIN in it.......
