Try to locate the vacuum leak. With the EGR code, the leak might be in the EGR tube, these are a bit harder to find so you may have to remove the tube and hold it up to the light. They do get brittle and crack. This could be a big part of your problem.

im gonna try and take the ole propane torch around tomorrow and see if ican get a rise out of her, and as for the corrosion, i have been upside down in that thing for awhile chasing the light wire and seen no such signs of any such damage.

one last question sir, has anyone done egr delete on these engines?
not worried about thrwing codes or deq, just very broke and tired of this gutless wench.
maybe braze both ends of pipe shut and unplug egr?...any thoughts?

well trust me it cant be worse than it is now...lol

You can block it off, but will need to block both ends. Those of us with intercoolers can't run the EGR, so ya, a EGR delete is possible. If you have access to a member with HPtuners you can have them change the turn on temp to 284* and then it will never turn on. If the valve is closed, just unplug it.
ok just a lil update, took off the cat pounded all that expensive metal out, and she runs great.
still need an egr and plugs and wires and prolly coils, but shes running much better now.
