So fellow BC'ers, what'* the point of EGR Blockoff Plate? I see a fair of people have them, I've read the zzp site and still want more info.

Damn, should've showed you that. First let me tell you what the EGR is. EGR stands for exhaust gas recirculation. What happens is there is a spot in the rear exhaust manifold that this hose hooks up to, then it runs through some sort of sensor, then the hose continues into the intake manifold, where it is routed up into the intake of the blower. So basically your exhaust is put into your air intake. This obviously makes your intake air dirtier, which makes the blower, intake manifold, engine, etc.... dirtier, besides the fact that it is very hot air. But what the blockoff plate does is it bolts to the exhaust manifold (or headers if you have them) where the hose hooks up and blocks the exhaust from getting out, and then you just leave the hose disconnected. We put a filter on it, so dirty outside air can't get in it, but some people don't do that. The main reason we put it on the GTP is because of the intercooler. After about 5,000 miles with the EGR hooked up with an intercooler, your intercooler will need to be cleaned, whereas you can go about 50,000 miles without the EGR hooked up because clean air is coming in. But the other advantage is your blower, intake manifold, and engine stay much cleaner. For $5 it isn't a bad idea.

Ok, what'* the negative affect of blocking it off? There'* has to be some trade off. What kind of filter did you put on that hose? it'* small right?

Well... one thing you will run alot hotter and your engine itself will get worn alot quicker...

And the engine will generate much more NOx and pollute the atmosphere. You may have trouble passing an emissions test.

Yes 92 L27'* did not include an EGR, and they have many many more valve/cyl problems due to the excessive heat. I don't know how putting hot and dirty exhaust gas makes the combustion temps lower.... but it does. Meh.

The exhaust gas is oxygen-deficient, so it will not burn.

The only negative effect anyone has found so far on the L67'* is lower gas mileage, and obviously worse emissions. Zooomer has been running this on his car for years, along with many others. I can't see you having any problems with it. Call up Zooomer at ZZP and talk to him about it, and ask him about the warmer combustion temps and such that members are claiming and see what he says if you are skeptical about getting it. I personally don't see anything wrong with it except for the emissions problem, and supposed worse gas mileage. (we never noticed a loss of gas mileage in the GTP)
