160 or 180 Tstat??
I am having a problem finding a 180 Tstat in stock for my car. Maybe im looking in the wrong places, does it have to be a perforrmance part? is this something that the local autostores would have in stock? Like PEP boys? I've been searching online for and the performance company that is installing my udder mods cant find one either. I had order one three weeks ago from ADTR but they are back ordered too.
The performance company has hypertech 160 but what are the cons of installing a 160 without a modded computer chip? I drive in rush hour every day around Washingotn DC, would it better better to go 160 or is it going to kill my gas mileage?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreactiated.

I'm using a 160deg in mine and yeah the gas mileage sucks ***. I've heard its more than necessary but I contacted zzperformance.com (which is where you'll find your 180 + 160deg tstats) and he told me the 160deg = more hp but less gas, obviously. I do get crap mileage but I also have a lot of other mods so I'm not sure which is taking the most. The hardest part about the 160deg thermo is that it has holes drilled in it so there is a constant coolant bypass so you'll have to either get a new sensor to turn your fans on or use a switch (pay attention to the temp gauge!). End idea, if your going to do small things and thats it go with the 180.

160 or 180 thermostat?
You can either go to NAPA or order one from their website - a Stant SuperStat 180 - and their on-line catalog is super easy to use and cross reference. Pep Boys, I discovered, only sells OE 195 thermostats, or at least keeps them in stock rather than an optional 180 item. Not sure about AutoZone though.

Well, i've had it in for one whole week now and all i can say is DAMN!! Theres a big difference between the stock 4t60-E and this one. i need a chip or a program that i can adjust my shift timing with so i can really beat it.
it was a little pricey at $3650, but i plan on getting my moneys worth out of it!
