How to increase your horsepower on an '88 series 1 3800? Trade it in on a '96 Series II Bonneville.

The series 1 was made from 92-94. I don't believe mine is a series 1 since it is an 88 n/a 3800.

For performance contact me and I will help you out. There are many options but you first have to decide what your goal is. That and you need to decide what kind of budget you are going to work with.

Alright..I have to wait until i get my drivers side rear door fixed now(got in a minor accident) and then I will talk to you. Anybody know of any free mods? I keep hearing this talk about gutting the air box and removing the throttle body screen. Do either of these do much? Would removing the tb screen screw up my car(i.e sand or something getting in there. and what do they mean by gutting the air box?

I don't think your '88 has the restrictive MAF screen like the later throttle bodies do.

I gutted the airbox and grinded all of the inside down to being flat(better flow) and I removed the TB screen. I then added piping off of a 5.0 foxbody air cleaner onto the stock piping and directed to being right behind the headlights and the pipe ends right behind the grille. MAD AIRFLOW!!! I now have way more throttle response and high rpm power. It sounds like a 4bbl carb without the air cleaner over it! the aluminum foil looks kind of odd but it is supposed to keep heat away giving cooler air.
