I'm surprised that with the mods he has that he hasn't installed a new cam yet.
The springs should be done at the same time.
The only downside is he may have to go back to stock rocker ratio due to the higher lift cam
He doesn't want a cam. The stock cam is fine, and with rockers and the right accompaning mods makes plenty of power (as you can see from my sig). Besides the fact that you basically have to take the engine out of the car to put in a cam, and many things could go wrong while putting in the cam, costing a lot of time and money. With an aftermarket cam he could run 12 flat 1/4 miles, but with a cam not only does the car sound like a race car which we don't want, but it is very hard to tune, it is very hard on the engine and the tranny, and gas mileage decreases dramatically (which doesn't really matter, but it is a downfall). Obvously with a cam with larger lift you would need stronger springs, and since it has larger lift you have to return to 1.6 rockers, or 1.75'* if you get a little cam. If we were to install a cam in the GTP it would be making as much power as the big boys such as Zooomer, Ed Morad, etc... (you guys probably don't know of these people but they are quick), but at this time we really don't want a cam. My dad wants a car that he can drive as a daily driver on the street, and not have to worry about reliability. If he gets much faster, he is going to start breaking things, and we don't want that because it gets expensive, you have to remember he is running the stock tranny that is rated for 280ft.lbs of torque, and he is making 450ft.lbs of torque currently, so more power would surely kill it if the power he has right now doesn't. But, for anyone here that wants to make a lot of power, I would highly recommend a cam, because you will get huge power gains, especially once it is tuned correctly.

Has ANYTHING been done to the trans to safely put down all that power? You said stock but is that bone stock?

In my L27 SLE what size do I have? Would valve springs from a Series 1 L67 be bigger and compatible or should I just get some new ones? If new, where and which ones, and how much would they run?
What about rocker shafts? Is there such a thing as performance rocker shafts for L27'*, L36'*, or L67'*?
Also, how about lifters?
As I get closer to boost I am thinking more and more about tearing into my upper end and do some modding/replacing.

Thanks in advance,
Stylez

No, not anything that helps it handle the power. We installed a Limited Slip Differential, and a Shift Kit in the tranny. Obviously the tranny isn't going to handle that much power forever, but it has so far. I don't know how much longer it is going to handle the power for, but hopefully another 30 or 40K. When we changed the fluid and filter a little while ago, there were no metal pieces in the fluid, and there wasn't more than normal clutch wear.
