V8 in Bonneville

This is the same problem I found when trying to track down a supercharged V6...just not enough of them out there in the salvage yards. To date I have found two in northeast Florida yards...one had already been raided for parts and the other was questionable due to the point of impact on the car. (car'* nose smashed all the was back to the block..and then some) Hence my decision to do a hybrid by supercharging the LN3 in the car.

By contrast, the LS1 (circa 1997) is a RWD motor with a different bellhousing, so adaptation will require a adaptor plate or a FWD transaxle with the bolt pattern. It is also a popular RWD swap motor, probably due to the Vette mystique and still command rediculously high prices. My '94 Camaro is going from 3.4L to the LT1 for just this reason...an LS1 would break the budget.
Last, while I have bought parts from Ed before, and will continue to buy parts from him in the future, I would not buy any used motor sight-unseen and have it shipped nearly 1000 miles. From my experience, that'* like asking for a bullet to the head. So, the "dime a dozen" comment doesn't hold water around these parts. Maybe they are cheap and plentyful in your neck of the woods, there are not so common round here.
So, I'll reiterate my advice to the fellow who started the thread. If you have got a good deal on a working Northstar, have at it. You'll have some work cut out for you, but then again, you'll have roadblocks on any swap.
I would say that the L67 or even a newer L32 would be a better swap for the money. Electronics are going to fight you the whole way. Bolting it up would be the easy part and would fit easily. But why would you want to go V-8 when you can do so many mods for the L67 for half the price of just buying the V-8 and paying to put it in or taking the time yourself to figure it out. Just throw on a Gen V blower, northstar TB, some headers, bigger exhaust, port the SC, Cam, Smaller pulley, etc and you can blow away any V-8 Bonney. I've got well over 300HP with my L67 now with a ton more potential if I put in a little money.

and yes, the electronics are going to be a b!#ch
i wonder if the older 4.9L caddy V8 is modable, cuz those are even cheaper
