Doing it on the cheap may be asking a bit much.
Some things you would need to fabricate on your own: motor & transmission mounts on the subframe, bastard CV joints to mate the transmission to the wheel hubs. This could very well be a simple mix-n-match operation...only way to find out is to take them apart and see what fits together and what doesn't. Keep in mind that the Northstar PCM plays a major role in keeping the tranaxle healthy...Cadillac had plenty of issues with parts breakage do to happy-right-foot owners, so the Northstar'* PCM pretty much has to be included in the swap.
Suspension bits are also going to be a trial and error operation, though others here can fill you in on the different factory springs available for the Bonnie...just a matter of finding the set that will compensate for the new weight of the new driveline vs. the old.
And you will need a lot of dedicated time to the Northstar'* control systems to get it up and running with a lot of chassis mounted sensors missing (like the ABS, Traction Control, VATS, etc, etc...) The Northstar PCM will need a lot of checks deleted out of it before it will even fire up and run.
There are easier swaps out there, but if unique is your goal and you have the time/talent/money, have at it. It would be a bitchin' bonnie when its done.

LS4 swap would be sweet. In the GP'*, they are running 13'* with those motors bone stock ... and that'* with a ton of TQ. Bonnies don't weight too much more, and you get more room under the hood.
But still, that would be expensive.
