Upper Intake
You know how someone sells that Upper Intake spacer, which gives ya an extra 5hp or so? What if I would to buy a new Upper intake from ebay, like a Dormon one or something, and open up the holes a little bit? Almost like a porting job, but it looks plastic so is that possible at all?
The intake is a two-piece arrangement on L27'* and L36'*. An insert inside the outer shell. The runner lengths are more important for performance rather than the size, and increasing sizes won't do alot of good unless you also port the LIM and bump your valve sizes up some (or rockers/cam).
The idea of variable length runners for an upper intake design has alot of merit. Intake manifolds can be tuned for high or low end performance, but a variable can provide both.
If you're going to try something like this, try for the Series 3 intake, and convert.

I believe so. Some of the guys at CGP have looked into this. We have the identical lower intake manifolds (I already verified this), so anything they can do, we can leverage.
The S3 UIM is aluminum, btw.

Might have to keep my eye out for a used one. Im sure a new one is still pretty pricey at this point. Now, would I have any problems with clearance if I added rockers or a new TB or anything else?
