Default upper intake plenum 95 and on..

What exactly causes these to fail (besides being plastic.) and is there anyway you can extend the life of them. If you drive the car easy, does it prolong the life of it? one other thing, if it is from heat making them to warp, if you use a cold air induction system on your car, that will help keep the intake manifold cooler. Will that help to keep it from failing? Just wondering. I just can't decide if I want to risk getting a 95 Bonneville becaues of that, but would absolutley love the extra 35 horses compared to the 94'*.

just curious to those of you who have driven both the 92-94 Bonneville'* and the 95'* with the 3800 Series II. How much of a difference is there really between the two different engines? Is there THAT big of a difference between the two?(power/acceleration wise.)

what is the difference between their 0-60 time? My brother'* 92 seems to run 0-60 in a sliver under 10 seconds. (about 9.9)

My mom'* ran it in 7.3 when I had tried it. Don't know if these times were a fluke or what. I drive my mom'* 95 all the time, but hardly ever my brother'* 92, he'* away at college so I haven't been able to really drive it to see what the difference between the two is.

I know these questions seem redundant, but you can never be too careful when trying to make a wise purchase on a car.

Hey, you DO know that the 92-94 had a plastic upper intake also? They're prone to the same problem. 170hp and a plastic upper or 205hp and a plastic upper. I'd go Series2.

You sure? I thought only the 94'* and above had the plastic. My brother'* feels like aluminum or some other light metal? It is silver colored, and it isn't as light as my mom'* intake. That definately feels like plastic. The 92 feels like metal to me..

I gaurantee it. I've personally seen 2 92 SE'* and a 93 SSE with the plastic. Slightly different design in looks, but black plastic. We just went through a 93SSE for the upper leak 3 weeks ago (JSeabert'* car).

this is pretty cool. the quick responses is almost like instant messaging. . I'm guessing then that the intake on my 88 3800 is Aluminum then?

While I'm on this subject, I can't believe that there haven't been any aftermarket companies making a METAL upper intake for the 3800 Series II. That just really surprises me. I bet they'd get a lot of business out of that too.

Instant again.

Your intake is a one-piece aluminum, I think. ADTR is developing an Aluminum upper as we speak.

I'm at work on the HP intranet. Might be a little faster. Don't tell my boss though. He just bought a 95 Buick Riviera.......L67 powered, and he pokes around here sometimes....shhhh......
