Default Turbo charging the bonnie?

I'm thinking about going for a one of a kind turbo carged bonnie. But I am no engine expert. Is there anyone out there that can tell me what I'm getting myself into, and what I'm going to need?

Start saving for a built trans because that will be the first thing to go.

And you're looking at 2-3+k for a decent turbo setup it'* self.

Tranny yes.. Or at least a shift kit. My old bonnie.. a 1993 Custom SE with a shift kit. I beat the **** out of that tranny. Reverse donuts, Going in reverse at 25mph and throwing it in drive and lighting the tires up, ect. and it held up no problem. But i wouldnt put money on it. Check out these two company'*. Speed Daddy and On 3 Performance LLC. They make cheap turbo kits. but its still going to be costly. U are going to have to beef up many motor and tranny parts

People have..

Turboing is one of those area'* that requires a lot of reading to understand what others have learned the hard way. If you are aiming for very fast and high horsepower the typical suggestion is a 1" GMR chain in the trans. They no longer make that chain. By itself, people are offering around $1500

Not a 3800 owner, nor real knowledgeable about boost. But it seems the expense and effort to get the auto tranny to hold up could be better spent on putting a manual one in that can handle torque?

There'* a lot of fabrication and only a handful of people have put a manual trans in to a 3800 car. There aren't a ton of overly strong ones that will take the power. Right now the consensus is that the G6 trans is about the best fit for the job. And even that one isn't meant to handle more power than our stock engines.

The Getrag 284 has been proven to be a pretty durable trans. We have a guy on w-body.com running one of those with a turbo 3800. He'* putting down 430whp and just got a bigger turbo recently.

They are also fairly rare and cannot be rebuilt. So, if you do break one, you're upshitscreek.
