This will not work. The desginer of this program said the cable is somehow related to the software, and the cable only works with the serial # of one software copy.

The software allows you to make a master copy of the OEM programming before you begin tinkering, so if you do something wrong you can always restore from backup. Also, reading the FAQ there is a standard version and a pro version; Apparently the PCM has two areas, the "database" and the "operating system". With the standard version (maybe for the DIY) you can only modify the database section of the PCM, reducing how badly you can screw it up, but I agree you definetly have the ability to screw the whole thing up.

There are two other companies I am considering for this, Hypertech is one of them. Although they have no idea what I am talking about, several Hypertech resellers inclunding GMPartsdirect.com have already started advertising programmers for our (2000 Bonneville'*) cars for "pre order". A call to Hypertech gets you the statement "We have no idea when, or what".

Intense has something now, and it is not outrageously priced, and it is allows for a great deal of customization, perhaps there will be great customer support giving the consumer access to "preset" templates designed and/or endoresd by Intense for our cars.

I like the idea of waiting, but who'* gonna do it first?

Also I was thinking that as there becomes more users that some common sub routines would be shared. Although each car is different we all run a generic program now and get different results, so a tweaked subroutine may also apply to everyone to a certain degree?
This would be a powerfull tool too for running all sorts of diagnostics that you would normally need a tech 2 for?
What I'm pointing out is there may be more value there the more you look at it
