Default Top speed

Can some one tell me about the top speed of a 98 SSE Pontiac Bonneville?

On a secure runway i speed on, I can get up to 108 mph and thats it. it seems im at the end of my gears on a automatic transmission and im at 5500 rpms the yellow marked zone on the tach that the computer wont let you pass and that averages is about 108 mph at level ground.

What i do is I ease of the gas to see if the tachometer will drop to and my automatic transmission will shift up , and i try to count gears, But who hear can tell me which gears are which and is there anoth gear beyond a top 108 mph at 5500 rpms?

your cars speed limiter is determined by what tires it was shipped with...

if you want to get rid of the limiter, get a custom PCM

INTENSE™ Powertrain Control Module
Code:PCM-xxxxx-xxxx
Price: $99.99

Where do you find out what it is?
Is it the same for everyone?
Does a PCM get rid of it?
Or a Reprogrammer?
How many gears are in the bonne'* transmission?

It depends on the tires it shipped from the factory with, which somewhat depends on which engine you got.

In GENERAL, SE, SLE, SSE are 108.

MOST supercharged (SSEi, SLE/SC, SSE/SC) are 128. A few of us have pcm'd/chipped to defeat it. I hope you live somewhere that it'* actually worth it, practical, and safe?

you have a 4T65-e transmission with 4 total gears and Overdrive

limited at 108 for all Naturally Aspirated Bonnevilles (not too sure about other 3800 equipped vehicles)

edit: haro, you beat me

the engine cuts out, and when you are going 108mph, you can feel the front end of the car drop down
