More hp means more air is being flowed (of course timing, fuel, etc... are related as well, but for the most part whoever is makeing more power is flowing more air), and I have a feeling the GTP gained more than 7whp from the extra 6 degrees timing, .1" drop in puolley size, and XP cam... I could be wrong but I think its pretty much gotta be flowing AT LEAST as much air as your SSEi. Not that I'm disagreeing with you about the screen, because it hasn't seemed to make a difference either way to me.

Refering to other BONNEVILLE owners, not GTPs My Gen V is moving as much air as a Gen 3 with a 2.6. Nobody here is moving that much air on a Bonneville.

I will be dynoing my car next week after the intercooler install. I'll do a pull with and without the TB screen and let you guys know.

Also with my car, anytime it attempts to idle below 1000, which isn't very often with the screen out, it is fairly rough. With the screen in, it'* 750 and smooth.

This was the main reason I put mine back in. Rough idle.

im my old Regal (l27 powa'd) I took it out with a K&N drop in and the stock air box/accordian tube and noticed a rougher idle, but I kept it out cause I screwed it up taking it out, it eventually ran smoother at idle after drving it a while (relearned) but at the same time I upgraded the plugs and wires and started running 89 Oc gas, so take what you want from that. My Bonne has been run both ways and in the SER1 I belive in L67 form it actually smoothed things out< I noticed a throttle response difference and it revved smoothly (kinda like when I put in the 8224'*) My new Regal has it removed with an SLP intake and the stock accordian tube, and it idles fine, but I dont know how much a smooth bellow would help/hurt performance. I do wonder if anyone make a smooth bellows tube (like the one Intense sells) but for my Regal, I could give er a shot.

As an experiment with my new flowbench, I tried a bone stock junkyard Hitachi MAF/throttle body assembly from a vin C 3800. At 28" of water, or about 1 psi, the assembly flowed 492.6 cfm without the screen and 462.7 with the screen. At lower flows, up to about 250 cfm, the screen made essentially no difference, but as the flow increased above that level the restriction increased. This is from an n/a car and it doesn't really flow anything over about 230 cfm in stock form so the General got it pretty well matched to the potential of the stock engine. Your assemblies are no doubt larger, so the threshold would likely be higher, but I suspect the results would be similar.

Add a little twist to this.. what about the MAF Screen on a GXP???? its bigger than the L67 or L36 maf, being a bigger engine would the hp increase be larger?

Todd, I don't think that'* going to answer any questions without time for the car to learn with or without the screen. Back to back pulls will likely only produce valid MAF flow readings and nothing else.

When my car was idling at our small meet today, it was bouncing by maybe 50-100 rpms.... I'm going to reinstall the maf screen and just see how it is.
