Default Thrasher or Intense Trans

Both companies seem to offer the same kind of upgrades for the trans.

There is a standard upgrade from Thrasher for half the price of an Intense trans, but with the upgrades, both axles come out to be around $4,000.

What would you prefer, and are there any huge differences between them?

Neither. Call up ZZPerformance and talk to Zooomer. You can get your transmission built up with all heavy duty internals and some intense parts so that it is just as strong, if not stronger than the intense tranny, and he can get it done a lot cheaper. I think he has connections with local tranny shops or something. Since you are in his area, it shouldn't be a problem. If I were you that is definately what I would do.

Remember that all three of these companies specialize in the 4T65E, which your 95 doesn't have. They may have support for the 4T60E, but it won't be as extensive if they do.

You can also talk to Speedguy. He does have the ability to do a 4T60E--with LSD and the heavy duty internals. The problem will be shipping--he is out in Fresno California.

I'm not looking to do this on my car. I know I have the 4t60e.

When I get my SSEi that will have the 4t65hd, I will want to get an upgrade. I'm planning on doing many modifications.

Just a little FYI:

Zooomer uses an INTENSE tranny. Some parts may be custom for him but Intense is the brains behind it. When Zoomer'* Intense tranny went out, its true he did take it to a local shop and Intennse covered the bill IIRC.

And for $4000 the Intense unit is a 100 times better than the Trasher one. If Mike Dye can blow one up (numerous times) then that should say something for it. Yes Intense has lost a couple also, but they were in 10-11sec GTP/SSEi'* NOT a low 12sec lightened GTP.

Not bashing Thrasher, just pointing out facts.

Good Luck!

I've heard the same about the Thrasher unit. I'd go with ZZP/Intense.

I have some facts for ya.

lol

First the parts used by all the transaxle companies are basically the same. I mean if they care about the product they will use one of the two better companies for clutch packs. Then they will use one of a few good pre-made valve bodies. (Our guy goes custom all the way on the valves, more of an artist).

There are a few "tricks". All the competent builders know them.
The tricks are all about redundancies and proper balance.

Once again I have done alot of research and found that the trick is finding a competent builder that actually cares about the final product.

So once again the unit is not just the sum of the parts.

Domestic Performance charges $3659.00 for the 4t65-e, shipping is also cheaper now ($150.00). That is with the limited slip and the torque converter.

Anyway the 4T65-e and the 4T60-e are both offered by Domestic Performance and we feel competent that our units are at least equal to the markets competition.

Actually I read the post again and it says clearly "intense or thrasher trans".

I will keep out of it.
