Thinking of adding 1.9 rockers and wondering if HD springs and pushrods are necessary if I keep the stock PCM with its lower rev limits?

Has anyone experience problems?

If you keep the stock pcm you should not need to upgrade springs and rods. However, if you have a spring that was weak from the factory you could run into problems as the 1.9'* will place more stress on them. It is always best to support the higher ratio rockers with stronger valvetrain components. That being said, I didnt run into any issues with mine until I got the custom PCM and started shifting at 6 grand instead of 5350.

I choose to play it safe and got 105 lb springs and Oil-restricted pushrods, read some stories of peoples stock springs breaking or people bending a pushrod which created other internal problems. I didn't want to take the chance, I also know of many people who have had NO problems at all with just 1.9'*. It'* up to you on this one. If you got the extra cash I say get them. Don't get a PCM though with stock springs, you'll get valve float like Rogue was getting at 6K.

Oh and ENJOY THEM. I love my rockers, top end power is MUCH nicer, pulls all the way to shift, that'* why people raise shiftpoints with rockers, then it still keeps pulling till shift. Can't wait for a PCM myself.

I've been considering rockers for some time now, I figured while replacing the rockers the pushrods should be easy enough to do at the same time. I was wondering if a company made a set of rockers, rods, and valves, springs and retainers? Be nice to get all that at once in one package. :?

Yep, you can either buy all those things from www.intense-racing.com seperately or you can get the stage 2 heads which have them all (except the rockers and rods).

So you really just get the springs, and retainers valves and retainers? But the whole point of this is the rockers.....

Maybe intense could do something with rockers for you if you asked them.

Well no, the stage 2 heads are ported and polished as well, they just happen to come with the springs and retainers. Check out their website for the performance packages.

I don't have the 1.9 rockers yet but my PCM is shifting at 6000 rpm with no problems......so far. :?
Of course if and when I do get the rockers, I will upgrade the springs and pushrods as well as titanium retainers.

Yeah it would probably be wise to upgrade springs, retainers and pushrods especiallly considering, how difficult they are to get to. I've replaced springs on v8 engines before.
This engine has alot of stuff in the way of the valve covers.
Looks like coil pack is in the way on front valve cover.....where are the bolts to remove that?
Back head has the alternator and what else in the way? I've already removed the brackets for pulling the engine. Looks like there is more under the alternator that needs moved to get valve cover off. Advise from someone that'* done this???

There are 2 or 3 bolts on the side of the ignition control module that will allow you to move it out of the way. For the rear you have to remove the MAP sensor/bracket, the alternator, the engine cover bracket and the alternator mounting bracket (which can cause a plastic elbow to come out of the block and drain about 1/2 gallon of coolant so be ready).
