Talked to a performance shop about P&P
Went to a local performance shop today where they worked on nothing but engines and their internals. Asked about Port and Polishing. After about a minute of him talking I found out that on a front wheel drive street car it really wouldnt benefit it at all. Unless the driver is pushing 7k RPM'* and above constantly, the affects for the price would not be noticeable. (The price would of been around 1000$ for the total package) Also told me that with more air coming in to actually feel the difference, a custom PCM would have to be installed. If I had some time and a spare engine like BonneMn I would tinker with it, but no way am I spending over 1000$ for a minimal gain. Just wanted to throw this out to everyone. I am speaking solely on the shop'* owner and everything he told me.
BTW-That turbo idea I was thinking about would also cost more than I wanted it to.

maybe you should look at another shop, as zzp does P&Ped manifolds for just $250, and coated for just $375.

The turbo he said was going to run over 1000$. Didnt get a exact quote because I am trying to stick to a budget. 250$, hmmm. He told me that would be the round about range for the basic job, but that is not including instillation. The price he gave me (1000$) included the heads also. Also said that most likely I would also want to reinforce some internal components like springs and other stuff like that. This place had engines all over the place, but no cars. It was pretty cool. For 2000$ he said he could make my Bonne really fast! But since I dont drive it till the RPM'* max out, I will probably forgo it. I am interested in that other Intake gasket thing that ZZP sells. It was a earlier thread.
Depending on what Intense comes out with this month, I am looking at a Jet Performance chip.
He also told me that they do something with angle'*. Cant quite remember what he said it did, but I really wasnt interested.

P&P can help, FWD/RWD doesn't matter. That'll affect how the engine sits... And the 3800 is RWD in the F body...
Don't spend money there. Stick with the GP performance shops.

Yea, he said it would help out a little bit, but RWD can feel it more. These guys were not really mechanics but machine specialists. THe only problem is, that is the closest performance shop to me. I got to drive another hour to get to any "civilized" place.

Belive it or not, these guys were pretty old (50'sish) and really dont like the small cars of today. Problem was I think they specialized in true race cars and not street cars. He was telling me what type of engines they were working on now, and lets just say my car was a good 20-30 years newer then them.

Doesnt porting and polishing just correct errors that come from mass production? And if so, he couldnt really know how much power you can really get out of the mod. If this is the case, then you could get a lot and you could get a little, it would just depend on how many mistakes or whatever were made during casting.
