Default swapping a 98 SC motor into my 92?

im sure this swap has been done before, so how big of a job is it? ive worked on many RWD cars replacing eng/trans. but ive only changed a few FWD engines. never replaced one with something that didnt belong there neither. anyway, i think my trans maybe toast and my motor has over 216k and is ticking a bit. found a complete 98 SC 3800/4T65E out of a regal GS with harness and ECM for $1000. what mounts would have to be changed and how much wiring work to be done? wiring is the part that scares me. any help or ideas?

Can you also get the subframe? It should bolt right in to the 92. this way you won't have to fab any motor mounts.

The best way to approach the wiring is to obtain the factory service manuals for both years. Since the PCM is in the engine compartment on the 98 and the ECM is located in the passenger'* compartment of the 92, you might also want to get the inside half of the engine harness connector. this way all of your electrical splices will be on the inside of the car.
