Default Superchargers

Hi,

Was wondering if anyone has any experience with any of the new superchargers offered by Edelbrock and others for late-model Vortec engines. I have a 2013 Chevy Avalanche with the 5.3 L Vortec. Thought the new 5.3 would have enough power, but it still is nowhere near the 6.2 in my wife'* Denali. Edelbrock advertises over 100 incremental horsepower which ought to do the trick and they seem pretty straightforward to install.

Thanks,

Kevin

I know the LS engines like boost. I read this article a while back and it gave me a newfound respect for GM'* latest V-8.

In many respects, I love these motors. I put one in my 85 CJ7 and that is a real hoot. I just think the Avalanche is underpowered, particularly climbing the mountains here in Colorado. So I am thinking about power adding alternatives and the supercharger route seems like a straightforward way to pick up 100 or so horsepower.

Just looking to see if anyone has gone this route and what they thought of the process and the results.

it seems simple enough but seems like you could get the power for cheaper

It is clearly not a cheap solution. I do like the (supposedly) bolt-in simplicity, but that does come at a price. From the article pasted earlier, the turbo route is probably the best bang for the buck.

turbo will be much cheaper, but you have to get hpt(high perf tuners) program and get familiar with tuning
