Stant 180 T-stat
I was in Pepboys the other day and walked by some t-stats and decided to take a look. Right next to the 195 t-stat was a stant 180 with the part number almost identical to the factory replacement(29848, factory replacement is 29849). I asked one of the people that worked there, but this old lady didn't seem like she knew what she was talking about and immediately said it wouldn't work. They both are ingraved with "44mm"... Would it be right to assume that is diameter? Anyways, I just wanted to see if I could get some feedback on this, since the friendly old lady didn't satisfy me(not in that way... haha).

If the Stant 29849 is the OE recommended thermostat, the numeral 9 would indicate 195 degrees... while with the 29848 the 8 would indicates a 180 degree thermostat - so either SuperStat could be used in your Bonneville. Either way you did better than I did at Pep Boys...The kid behind the counter didn't even know what the hell a SuperStat was so I went to NAPA.
